Romantic Improvisation – The Postclassical Prelude as a Model

This is an explanation video on original 19th-century-preludes. It contains an introduction to the genre and some cursory analysis of selected original examples from around 1830.

Using schemata theory and harmonic analysis ties with the baroque prelude are shown and using preludes from different collections we get a flavour of the preludes from the romantic period.
